Yep, they really do have meetings on the town square when they aren’t boating on the clear mountain lakes or canoeing on the nearby mountain streams.
Surrounded by rolling hills and lush pastures the outskirts of Melbourne have a bevy of cattle and horse farms. Driving south along the ridge top roads of the Ozarks towards the river and Mountain View you will see where farmers have carved out smaller cattle ranches sitting atop the forested mountain landscape. Wildlife abound throughout the mountains providing opportunities to hunt deer, turkey and small game. Wildlife photographers can also expect unique opportunities in the Ozarks.

A town proud of its’ roots that celebrates their heritage with Pioneer Day parades and live music on the town square. More often than not everyone gives a friendly wave whether it be to a local or stranger. A town on the move that is proud of its' many achievements, an airport, radio and TV station, college, medical center and 18 hole golf course, not bad for a town of 1700 citizens!

These are but a few of the considerations in our decision to retire in the city of Melbourne. Having come from the rat race in California it was our choice to stay outside of the tourist areas of the Ozarks yet remain close to the many friends and numerous recreational activities that abound close by. If monetary considerations enter into your choice of retirement communities, typically this area has escaped the higher priced property and cost of home construction. It is very appealing if
community spirit and a down home hospitality is important during your retirement years. Why the Ozarks Continued Education Featured Listings
